Master Of Love Cover Reveal

Pre-Order Link

Welcome to Mystic, Texas, where the past stays alive in more ways than one.

Tiffany Masters is desperate for a fresh start after the loss of her husband. Landing in Mystic, she soon learns the town has as many secrets as she does. The local book club, The Book B!tches, gives her the courage to be herself without worrying about adult things, like bills, parenting, and supper. However, her new boss may be more than she can handle.

Nick takes pride in his business. Being the only bar owner in town has its challenges, the biggest being his new employee. Tiffany’s a fireball—sexy as hell, with a temper to match—and off-limits. She’s got kids; he’s been there, done that, didn’t care to get the t-shirt.

When their heated attraction sparks a spat, the sheriff gives them an ultimatum: settle their shit or go to jail. He’s got a crime to solve—a woman’s dead, Wren’s still missing, and there’s another possible victim.

Mystic may have a serial killer on the loose.

**This is not a standalone novel. Power of Love, Book B!tches #1 is recommended to be read first.**

UNEDITED Excerpt

He wanted to force her to confess. It really hurt that she didn’t trust him enough to tell him the truth. Nick couldn’t help her if she was going to be dishonest. “You know, if you needed a loan, all you had to do was ask me. Is one of the kids sick or something?”

Freezing with the towel in her hand, her mouth opened in a perfect oh shape that took his mind on a spin down erotica highway, but he tamped it down. Now was not the time, she was not the woman.

“You think I stole it?” Her voice was rising into a shriek, and Nick readied himself for a fight.

“No one else here, sugar,” he drawled at her, watching the flush of anger crawl up her chest. Something inside him told Nick he was doing this wrong, was taking things too far, but he couldn’t stop. He saw an opening and he took it. Regardless of how she reacted.

“I didn’t take your money, Nick.” She crossed her arms, pushing up her braless breasts, but Nick was a good boy and didn’t look. Much. He knew he was pissing her off, and part of him said to stop it, to be a grown up and work it out. Unfortunately, he wasn’t listening to that part.

“That’s a hundred and fifty bucks I’m out now this week. I’m doing okay, but not that good.”

Tiffany stalked over to the bar and dropped her towel on the top of it. “This is stupid. If I didn’t need this job so bad, I would quit.” She spun around, the fire in her green eyes stirring Nick’s groin. “You can’t fire me without proof.”

He didn’t want to believe she stole from him. As poorly as they actually got along, he liked her. And she was a hell of a bartender.
“You’re the only one working all three times money’s come up missing.” He crossed his arms over his chest, knowing that the display of his biceps seemed to affect her. He was pulling out all the stops, needing an admission, some display of faith in him.

Sure enough, she looked panicked for a brief moment, before swallowing hard. The clicking noise in the back of her throat audible over the smooth tones of the sex music in the background.

“Search me.” The uplift of her chin spoke volumes. But not as much as the pissed off look in her eyes. Her cheeks were splotched with the red that was crawling up her chest earlier, and Nick would bet money that underneath that punky dye job, she was a redhead. Just like under all that metal in her face, she was soft as sin.

He slowly stalked over to her, where she leaned against the bar and crowded her space. He would search her. And he would enjoy it. He would find his money, make his point, and go on about his business.

But when Nick got close enough to Tiffany to smell her perfume, the light fruity vanilla scent she wore, he lost a little bit of his mind.

She shrank under his influence, and a growl of something primal released from Nick as he wrapped his fingers around her ponytail, pulling her head back to expose her slender neck. Her smell taunted him, and he lowered his nose to the spot behind her ear, where her hair met skin, and inhaled deeply.

Yup. Something fruity. But under the fruity smell was something he didn’t get many chances to smell. Tiffany. It was something exotic, scorching, and all woman, and it sent a ripple of need racing through his bloodstream.

Tugging on the ponytail holder, Nick let her hair down and sank both hands into the silky softness of it, massaging her scalp while he lost himself in her scent and all the implications. She wilted into his body, and his hands went to her waist for support. As they crept under her shirt she gripped his biceps, digging her nails into his skin with a prickly sting. Her breaths made her breasts heave, pressing them against his chest, hard points poking him relentlessly. He brushed against the underside of her breasts, and another growl ripped from him. She wasn’t wearing a bra, and the fact that the men who came into this bar saw her without one made the possessive beast inside him take notice.

His hand gripped her breasts tightly, and the foreign intrusion in his palm sent his brain spiraling into a lust-filled dungeon of desire.

Her fucking nipples were pierced. He felt his stomach flop over at the revelation, even as his fingers toyed with the tiny bars. God. Damn. She mewled in his ear as his breath turned into ragged gasps. His fingers plucked at the jewelry, twisting it slightly, before realizing he was about to lose his ever-loving mind.

"Spider!"

"What? Where?" Callie started dancing around and screaming.

"Callie! Stop!" Her roommate froze. "It's there." Mandy pointed to the blanket that covered her. A hairy, brown arachnid was ambling around right about where her abdomen was.

"Oh! Ew! How—we need to kill it!" Callie grabbed one of Mandy's work boots and raised it over her head. As the boot came crashing down, Mandy rolled from the bed and landed on the floor with a thunk.

"Ouch!" She rubbed her elbow where it had made contact with the tile floor.

"Are you okay?" Callie grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet.

"What the hell, Cal! A boot?"

"Um, did you see that sucker? He was huge! And I didn't have a baseball bat."

Mandy turned back to the bed. Reaching out, she slowly lifted the boot and the spider scurried out from under the heel.

"Quick! Do something before he escapes!" Callie started squealing and dancing again.

"Will you stop!" Mandy grabbed the edge of her blanket and folded it up and over the critter. From there she wrapped it up like a giant burrito. Funny she should be thinking about burritos.

"What are you going to do now?" Callie asked, finally standing still.

"We are going to take this blanket outside and dump that bastard where he belongs."

"Um, okay." Callie reached for one end while Mandy took the other.

"Let’s go."

"Yes, ma'am." Together they ran through the cottage laughing and squealing. Once they made it to the porch, they threw the burrito blanket over the railing, held one edge, and let the rest roll toward the ground. The perpetrator flew across the sidewalk where he landed on all eight legs. After standing still for a second, he started running back toward them.

"Mandy! He's coming back! Do something!"

"What the hell do you want me to do? You do something!"

"Is there a problem, ladies?" Mandy froze. It couldn't be. Oh, God, don't let that be—she slowly looked up from where she watched the spider. Her eyes followed a pair of long, lean legs to a trim waist clad in loose running shorts, up and over a broad, muscular chest covered in nothing but little drops of perspiration and found a pair of milk chocolate eyes. The owner of the eyes was grinning as he perused her body the same way. She looked down at herself.

"Oh shit!" She grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her hips.

"Good morning, Mandy. And—?"

"Callie. I'm her roommate and bestie."

"I heard you two screaming and I came running." His gaze slowly raked over Mandy’s body once again. "I’m sure glad I did."

"There was a spider," Callie finally replied. "He was huge. And hairy and he was coming right for us."

Jamie looked down at the sidewalk. "This little guy here? Aw, he's harmless."

"Not so harmless when he was crawling across my bed." Mandy finally managed to find her words again.

Jamie chuckled as he leaned down and scooped the spider up. "Come here, little dude. You’re one lucky guy." He tossed him over the fence into the next yard. "There. You're all safe now."

"Thank you!" Callie ran down the steps and threw her arms around him. "You're my hero."

He laughed as he extricated himself from Callie's grip. "It's all in a days' work. Glad I happened by at the right time." Jamie looked over Callie, meeting Mandy's eyes again with a big grin.

"He's a firefighter, Callie. That's what they do—save the damsel in distress."

"Ooohhh, a firefighter? No wonder you're so strong." She ran her hands up and down his arms real slow as her tongue peeked out and slid over her top lip.

Stepping back from Callie's touch, he smiled up at Mandy. "That what you plan to wear tonight?"

Every drop of blood in her body raced to the capillaries in her face. "Perhaps," she replied, trying to sound much more calm, cool, and collected than she felt with Jamie's eyes pretty much already undressing her. "You said wear something comfortable."

Mandy was vaguely aware of Callie's gaze flitting back and forth between her and Jamie but she couldn't seem to break away from his stare. The longer he looked at her the more she leaned toward the tearing off her clothes option.

"Works for me." Jamie grinned and Mandy felt her entire body flush with the connotation of his words.

“Do I get a good-luck kiss?” he asked after checking for cameras, his hands framing my waist.

“Paxton.” I tried to make it sound like a warning, but it came out too breathy, too wanting. For crying out loud, I couldn’t even control my own voice against this guy.

He squeezed lightly and then groaned. “Did I ever tell you that I love this dress?”

I shook my head. The spaghetti-strap maxi dress had been a last-minute choice, but Penna said she was going to burn all my pants if she saw me in them for the twenty-first day in a row.

He leaned down, his mouth against the shell of my ear. “I can feel every curve under my hands, which makes me pretty damn desperate to slide this up your legs and really get my hands on you. But I won’t. You know why?”

I shook my head.

“Because you haven’t said yes—yet—and I’m a goddamned gentleman.”

My fingers traced the lines of the Chinese symbol tattoos that ran up his neck, simply unable not to touch him. “Do I have to say yes to everything to get to kiss you?” I asked.

His breath stuttered. “Do you want to say yes?”

Our eyes met, and it would have been so easy to say it, to throw my hesitation overboard and jump. But that wasn’t me, and it didn’t matter that I was in a breezy dress under the Italian sun with the hottest extreme athlete on the planet, I was still...me. “I’m thinking about it.”

His forehead puckered for a millisecond before he relaxed and smoothed the line of my waist. “Then I think we can take yeses on a case-by-case basis.”

My heart pounded in anticipation.
“Leah, would you like me to kiss you?”

“Yes,” I answered instantly.

Our hips met first as he drew me in. My hands slipped down the edges of his T-shirt to grasp the inked lines of his biceps. Arms like his should be modeled, sculpted, revered... or maybe just outlawed.

“Do you want to kiss me?” I asked.

“Hell yes,” he answered, then brushed his mouth against mine once before settling over me.

I opened for him, and he dove in, his tongue filling my mouth while my ass filled his hands. Gentleman, indeed.
